In a game shortened to five and a half innings due to rain, Hunter Williams pitched the UNC baseball team to a 1-0 win over the High Point Panthers on Tuesday night at Boshamer Stadium. The Tar Heels jump to 23-14 with the non-conference victory, and the Panthers fall below .500, with their record falling to 17-18 on the year.

Williams, the freshman lefty continued his recent run of dominance with seven strikeouts and no walks over six shut-out innings. In his past four starts, he’s thrown 24 innings and allowed just two runs and ten hits, completely baffling opposing hitters all month long.

Offensively, the Tar Heels got a lead-off double from junior Alex Raburn in the second inning, which turned into the game’s only run when he was hit home on the next play by another double, this one from catcher Korey Dunbar.

After that, though, the pitchers went back and forth until the rain came, as Carolina picked up just two more hits on High Point starting pitcher Michael Hennessey after scoring in the second, while High Point managed just three hits for the entire six innings against Williams.
