An absolutely incredible goal from sophomore midfielder William Perry with just under seven seconds remaining on Saturday gave the 10th-ranked UNC men’s lacrosse team a thrilling 9-8 victory at Kenan Stadium over the St. John’s Red Storm.

In addition to improving the Tar Heels to 6-0 so far this season–just two shy of their win total from all of last year–the victory gives head coach Joe Breschi an even 200 for his career.

Breschi won 92 games while the coach at Ohio State from 1997-2008 and has now won 108 during his 10 years at the helm in Chapel Hill.

UNC had eight different players score at least once in the game, with Perry the only player to find the back of the net twice.

Perry also recorded an assist on teammate Timmy Kelly’s goal just over a minute into the second half–one that would hand the Tar Heels an 8-5 lead.

St. John’s (2-2) rallied back after that point, scoring the next three goals while holding UNC scoreless for a period of longer than 28 minutes until the eventual game-winner.

Goalie Matt Hanley was the star of the day for the Red Storm, as he recorded 15 saves against one of the most balanced offensive attacks in the country.

The Tar Heels tallied a whopping 45 shots in the game, compared to just 28 for St. John’s
