Head football coach Larry Fedora announced a new tight ends coach on Friday afternoon.  Chad Scott will coach tight ends and hybrids for the Tar Heels.  Scott is an alumnus of UNC.  He graduated in 2004.

Scott returns to Chapel Hill after coaching most recently at Kentucky, where he tutored running backs from 2013-15 and was the run game coordinator in 2014-15.

Prior to his time with Kentucky, Chad Scott spent three seasons (2010-2012) with Texas Tech as their running backs coach.  His first full-time coaching job was at Troy.  As running backs coach from 2007-2009, Scott helped lead Troy to three straight Sun Belt Championships.

In a statement, Fedora said:

“We’re excited to bring back one of our alums to be a part of our program.  I’ve had the opportunity to get to know Chad over the last few years and he’s an outstanding person, an excellent recruiter and a smart offensive coach. We welcome him and his wife, Shambrica, and their two children to the Tar Heel family.”

Scott began his collegiate playing career at Kentucky before transferring to North Carolina and lettering in 2004 and 2005. He earned first-team All-ACC honors from ESPN.com after rushing for 796 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior.
