UNC redshirt sophomore forward Jelani Pieters was recognized Monday as the ACC Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

Although he played in 18 games for UNC last season as a reserve, Pieters recorded just a single assist all year long.

In wins over No. 12 Providence and Rutgers this past weekend, he exploded for three goals and an assist as the fourth-ranked Tar Heels combined to score a whopping 10 goals in total.

Pieters also played a role in a fifth goal, when he drew a foul in the goal box–resulting in a successful penalty kick for UNC.

The native of Oswego, Illinois will share his Offensive Player of the Week honor with Wake Forest’s Brandon Servania–a freshman who scored two goals and dished out four assists in his first two career college games.

Boston College’s Younes Boudadi was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Eagles record back-to-back shutouts, and recording three assists in the process.

UNC will return to action this Friday with a game at UNCW.
