UNC freshman attacker Jamie Ortega was selected Tuesday as the ACC women’s lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, after scoring eight goals and dishing out an assist in the Tar Heels’ two victories.

Duke’s Callie Humphrey was the other player recognized by the ACC this week, as she took home the Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Ortega put together a career-high six-goal performance in Saturday’s win over Notre Dame, while she added the other two goals and the assist last Wednesday against Virginia Tech.

So far this season, Ortega is second on the team with 29 goals in her debut campaign.

She and the Tar Heels will return to action this Saturday when they host Louisville at Kenan Stadium.
