Jamie Loeb knocked off 5-seed Lauren Davis to advance to the Dow Corning Tennis Classic quarterfinals Thursday afternoon.
The 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 victory was a major upset for Loeb, who is ranked number 397 in the world. Davis is currently ranked 103.
Loeb will face another tough challenge when she takes on 3-seed and 74th-ranked Irina Falconi Friday.
She spent two seasons at UNC before turning pro after the 2015 season. Loeb was the 2015 NCAA singles champion.
