UNC has landed a highly touted quarterback recruit for the 2018 recruiting class.

Arizona high school signal caller Tyler Shough announced his commitment to the Tar Heels on Twitter Thursday afternoon.

The future of the quarterback position at UNC has been up in the air after the meteoric rise of Mitchell Trubisky last season going from the backup quarterback to the number two overall pick in this year’s National Football League draft.

Inside Carolina and 247 Sports are reporting that Shough picked the Tar Heels over scholarship offers from Southern California, Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, Arizona State and others.

Shough is the sixth member of the 2018 recruiting class for UNC, according to the recruiting websites, which includes Orange High School linebacker Payton Wilson.
