Former UNC defensive tackle William Fuller is a member of the 2016 College Football Hall of Fame class, which was announced by the National Football Foundation on Friday.

Fuller is the seventh player or coach from Carolina to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, according to the university. Fuller is the second Tar Heel to be inducted in the last three years, joining 2014 inductee cornerback Dre’ Bly.

Fuller played in Chapel Hill from 1980 through 1983 and was named All-America his junior and senior season. Fuller is one of seven Tar Heels to be named All-America twice.

Fuller recorded 22 tackles for loss in both the 1981 and 1983 seasons and still holds the career record for tackles for loss with 57. Fuller also ranks sixth in program history with 20 sacks.

William Fuller played two seasons in the USFL before a 13-year NFL career. Fuller was a four-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowl selection.

The other Tar Heel players in the College Football Hall of Fame include Bly, Hunter Carpenter, Charlie Justice, Don McCauley and Barney Poole. Carpenter and Poole only played one season each at Carolina. Carolina coaches Carl Snavely and Jim Tatum are also in the College Football Hall of Fame.
