CHAPEL HILL – Five Tar Heels will compete in the NCAA Outdoor National Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 5-8.

Lianne FarberCameron OverstreetTristine JohnsonBriana Hudson, and Clayton Parros each earned bids to the NCAA Outdoor National Championships based on their performances at the NCAA East Preliminary this past week.

Farber will compete in the women’s 1,500. She raced 4:16.67 in the quarterfinal of the event on Saturday and is seeded 11th in the semifinal.

Overstreet advanced to the national stage in a jump off in the women’s pole vault on Friday. She cleared 13-1 1/2 (4.00 meters) to be seeded 23rd heading into the national championships.

Tristine Johnson and Briana Hudson each received bids in the women’s triple jump after competing at the prelims on Saturday. Johnson jumped 41-8 1/2 (12.71 meters) to rank 22nd and Hudson jumped 41-5 3/4 (12.64 meters) to rank 24th.

Parros is the lone men’s Tar Heel to represent the team on the national level after he won his heat in the 400 quarterfinal on Friday evening to clinch his spot in Eugene. His time of 46.60 ranks him 17th heading into the semifinal.

The top 24 competitors out of the NCAA East and the NCAA West will compete at the NCAA National Championships with the top eight in competition earning All-America honors at the conclusion of the championship meet.
