USA Field Hockey released the roster for its 2017 National Team last Friday, with eight current and former Tar Heels among the 27-player squad.

Julia Young and Lauren Moyer, who each played key roles for UNC in 2016, are the two new additions to the U.S. roster–having recently played for the Under-21 team.

The other six Tar Heels on the roster–Jackie Briggs, Casey Di Nardo, Katelyn Falgowski, Kelsey Kolojejchick, Loren Shealy and Caitlin Van Sickle–are each veterans of international competition.

New U.S. head coach Janneke Schopman will select teams using the pool of 27 players to compete in a number of different competitions over the next year.

That list of events includes the FIH Hockey World League Semifinals from June 15-July 23 in South Africa, and the Pan American Cup–which takes place in Lancaster, Pa from Aug. 4-13.
