CHAPEL HILL– The national spotlight is certainly on Tar Heel tight end Eric Ebron. Following his record-smashing 199-yard performance against Miami last week, he has been named John Mackey Tight End of the Week.

The junior achieved a career high in receptions and his total receiving yards set a new all-time record by a UNC tight end.

The John Mackey Tight End of the Week is a designation set apart from the annual John Mackey Award handed out Dec. 12 at the Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show. Ebron is also in the running for this honor, bestowed on the nation’s best tight end.
