With college baseball season just over a month away, Perfect Game–a respected media outlet which covers the sport at the amateur level–released its annual preseason top 25 on Wednesday.

Coming off an outstanding 2017 regular season, UNC will begin this year at No. 7 in the polls.

The Tar Heels went 49-14 a year ago before a pair of upset losses to Davidson sent them home early from the Chapel Hill Regional in the NCAA Tournament.

Defending national champion Florida holds the No. 1 spot, with No. 2 Oregon State, No. 3 TCU, No. 4 Texas Tech and No. 5 Florida State making up the rest of the top five.

Arkansas is slated just in front of UNC at No. 6. The rest of the top 10 consists of a group including No. 8 Kentucky, No. 9 Miami and No. 10 Stanford.

The ACC has a total of seven teams ranked in the poll, tying the league with the SEC for most squads in the mix.

Joining Florida State, UNC and Miami are: No. 13 NC State, No. 14 Louisville, No. 20 Duke and No. 24 Clemson.

The season is set to begin on Friday, Feb. 16 for the Tar Heels–who will play host to South Florida for a three-game weekend series at Boshamer Stadium.
