NEWTON, Mass.– The road trip up to Boston College was a success for the Tar Heel women’s soccer team. Carolina got what they wanted: a win. But it was not without a fight.

The Eagles are always up to the challenge against the defending national champion Heels and Sunday’s match was witnessed by 1,500 fans. But UNC escaped with their third straight 1-0 victory over the team from Chestnut Hill.

Senior midfielder Crystal Dunn fed Kelly McFarlane for a score 64:48 into the contest. McFarlane broke free and netted the game-winning shot from 12 yards outside the goal, her first of the season.

The Tar Heels have now won five in a row and currently have a 12-2 record overall with a 6-2 mark in the ACC. Boston College dropped to 7-7 overall and 4-5 in conference play.

Thursday, Carolina returns home to face off against Syracuse at 2 p.m. in the comfortable confines of Fetzer Field.
