CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.– Junior Tar Heel wrestler Evan Henderson fell to 18-2 on the year Thursday, losing in the quarterfinals at the 2014 Southern Scuffle Wednesday held at McKenzie Arena on the campus of The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Henderson was the only Carolina wrestler left in the championship bracket. He opened the tournament with a pin in the first period of Cleveland State’s Jayce Carr and followed that victory up by downing Northern Colorado’s Nick Adams in the second round.

The All American Henderson then dispatched Virginia’s Justin Van Hoose in an 11-6 decision to book his spot in the quarterfinal lineup.

But the Tar Heel lost to a familiar opponent in Old Dominion’s Chris Mecate by a 3-2 decision. Henderson had won both of their two previous encounters.
