CHAPEL HILL – The UNC volleyball team gets its season underway Friday at 8:00 p.m. against Notre Dame at Middle Tennessee State’s Blue Raider Bash.

Picked to finish second behind FloridaState in the ACC by the conference’s 15 head coaches, Carolina will be looking to ride the play of junior Chaniel Nelson and sophomore Paige Neuenfeldt, both members of the 2013 Preseason All-ACC team.

The Tar Heels will try and put an end to the Seminoles’ bid to earn their third straight league title, a feat accomplished by UNC from 1999-2001.

Speaking after the Blue-White scrimmage last weekend, Head Coach Joe Sagula said he thought his team was progressing along nicely and that the scrimmage allowed him to see some of his girls in competitive situations.

The quest for a title begins Friday for Carolina volleyball. On Saturday, the squad will face double duty, taking on San Francisco and Middle Tennessee State.
