UNC head women’s lacrosse coach Jenny Levy picked up career win No. 299 on Friday, after her second-ranked Tar Heels put together an impressive 12-0 run on the way to a 14-5 win over the Albany Great Danes at the US Lacrosse Complex in Sparks, Maryland.

Senior Carly Reed did most of the damage offensively for UNC, scoring five goals in the game.

Both Maggie Bill and Sydney Holman added a goal and three assists to the winning cause, while Sammy Jo Tracy scored two goals herself–the only Tar Heel besides Reed to find the back of the net twice.

The Great Danes (2-3) opened the game with three consecutive goals, and were even tied 4-4 at halftime after allowing UNC to score two straight before the break.

Coming out of the locker room, however, the floodgates opened up–as the Tar Heels reeled off the first 10 goals of the second half and rode that wave to the victory.

“Our offense found our rhythm, spurred by Sammy Jo [Tracy] at the draw circle,” Levy said after the game. “We scored great goals in multiple ways from multiple players.  The second half was a total team effort and a lot of fun.”
