Death, taxes and Joel Berry winning the ACC’s Player of the Week Award.

It was announced Monday afternoon that UNC’s star point guard earned the honor for the fourth time this season, following yet another stellar week on the hardwood–starting to make his selection each week seem like one of the few certainties this life has to offer.

The junior from Apopka, Florida–who was also named Co-National Player of the Week along with teammate Justin Jackson–scored 26 points in the Tar Heels win over then-No. 9 Florida State on Saturday as they picked up their most impressive win of the year to date.

He also added 18 points and seven assists on Wednesday in UNC’s win over Wake Forest in Winston Salem.

This marks the second straight week Berry has been named the ACC’s top player, as his big-time production led the Tar Heels to four straight conference wins during that time span.

Entering Monday’s game against Syracuse, Berry had averages of 16.2 points, 4.4 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game.

His leadership and production will be one of the top factors–if not the single most important one–for UNC to make a return trip to the Final Four.

So far, though, it doesn’t appear like that will be a problem at all.
