The teams played in a double header Saturday. Going into Saturday’s games the Tar Heels were up 1-0 on the series after winning 3-2 Friday night.
North Carolina fell 6-7 in game two, but recovered with a third game win 5-1.
The Tar Heels improved to 25-13 on the season and 6-3 in the ACC. The Hokies now stand 19-8, 1-4.
In game one Saturday the Tar Heels were down early 2-0, but countered with two runs in the bottom of the first.
After battling with a close score throughout the game, North Carolina wasn’t able to close out on top.
Parrish, sophomore third baseman Stephanie Krider, senior catcher Haleigh Dickey, and senior second baseman Elisha Elliott each added one run for the Tar Heels.
Junior pitcher Lori Spingola pitched through all innings and gave up nine hits and six walks. She struck out three.
In game two the first two innings were scoreless, and in the third freshman second baseman Erin Satterfield and Dickey each scored a run to put North Carolina ahead 2-0.
The fourth inning was scoreless. During the fifth freshman outfielder Aquilla Mateen, sophomore catcher Kati Causey, and Satterfield each added a run.
Junior pitcher Ashley Bone pitched 6.2 innings and gave up four hits and five walks. She struck out two.
