LEXINGTON, KY. – Kentucky starting pitcher Katie Henderson threw the programs’ ninth no-hitter, while the Wildcat offense scored 12 first inning runs to lead No. 17 Kentucky to a 18-0 win over No. 24 UNC.

Henderson faced just two over the minimum, walking UNC senior DH Haleigh Dickey in the 1st inning. Freshman SS Kristen Brown also reached on a fielding error in the second.

Junior Lori Spingola took the loss for UNC, giving up 7 earned runs in 1 and 2/3 innings pitched.

UNC’s three other pitchers who appeared in the game fared no better, as junior Ashley Bone gave up 4 earned runs in just 1/3rd of an inning, junior Sara Buchholz gave up 4 runs in 1 inning pitched, and senior Constance Orr gave up 3 earned also in 1 inning.

With the loss, UNC falls to 18-7 (3-0 in the ACC), while Kentucky improves to 19-4.

The UNC softball team will return to action this Friday, staying in the state of Kentucky to face Wisconsin and #11 Louisville in the Louisville Classic.
