CHAPEL HILL – The UNC men’s and women’s tennis teams continue ACC play against Georiga Tech Friday afternoon.

The women are still ranked No. 1 in the nation, but are coming off a 4-3 upset by the rackets of No. 27 Virginia on Saturday. Prior to that defeat, Carolina won eight straight dating back to its ACC opener on February 27 against Wake Forest in which the Tar Heels took down the Demon Deacons 7-0 in Winston-Salem.

As of March 26, senior Gina Suarez-Malaguti remained in the top ten in singles nationally; freshman Whitney Kay rounds out the top 25.

The 17-2, 3-1 Tar Heels are fifth in the ACC, one point behind the top four spots; Georgia Tech (9-6, 3-2) is tied with Carolina with three points in conference play.

The UNC-GT women’s match begins at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Chapel Hill.

The men are looking for their first conference win of the season Friday afternoon in Atlanta. The Tar Heels have lost eight straight including their most recent defeat by No. 1 Virginia, 6-1 on Sunday.

UNC started the spring schedule ranked 18th in the country and opened with a 7-2 overall record before its currently losing streak. Carolina has since fallen to 70th.

Georgia Tech has just one conference win this season and is 8-10 overall.
