CHAPEL HILL – The No. 1 North Carolina baseball team opens conference play Friday evening with the first of a three-game series on the road against Wake Forest.
The Tar Heels closed out pre-conference action with another dominant win against the Davidson Wildcats on Wednesday, 10-2. In the first 11 games which Carolina completed undefeated, UNC outscored its opponents 107-29.
Wake Forest is 9-5 on the season and coming off two losses to New Mexico State 4-0 and Charlotte 5-4.
Freshman outfielder Skye Bolt continues to lead the team with a .487 batting average.
Junior left-hander Kent Emanuel will begin on the mound for Carolina. Emanuel is 2-0 and holds a 0.78 ERA.
Friday’s first pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. The series continues Saturday and Sunday with game times at 4:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. respectively.
