BUIES CREEK – The UNCsoftball team bounced back from two weekend conference losses with a shutout at Campbell Wednesday night.

The Tar Heels put all three runs up in the top of the first. Sophomore catcher Amber Parrish batted the first runner in with a double to left. Freshman second-baseman Erin Satterfield was followed in by Parrish and senior third-baseman Haleigh Dickey with a single up the middle by senior first-baseman Constance Orr.

Junior right-hander Lori Spingola improved to 14-9 on the season throwing the complete game and only giving up four hits and a walk while striking out five.

With the win, Carolina improved to 23-12; Campbell fell to 20-12. The Tar Heels return to ACC play this weekend with a three-game home series against Virginia Tech. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Friday at Anderson Stadium; the series wraps up with a double-header Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
