CHAPEL HILL – After dropping out of the top 25 and responding with two run-rule wins earlier in the week, the Carolina softball team heads back into conference play for a weekend series with Florida State.

UNC and FSU are the only two teams left unbeaten in league play. Both are receiving a single vote in the polls.

Before the mid-week series against the North Carolina Central Eagles, the Tar Heels dropped three out of four contests in the Louisville Tournament in Kentucky. Prior to that Spring Break weekend tournament, they fell to Kentucky and have only won three of their last seven contests.

However, North Carolina was picked to win the ACC this year, and conference play has started well. UNC started with a sweep over Boston College in Chapel Hill; FSU’s first series was a sweep of NC State.

The weekend series gets underway Saturday with a double header. Due to the threat of inclement weather, all three game times have been bumped up. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. in Tallahassee with game two expected to begin around 11:00 a.m. Sunday’s game will also begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday’s 9:00 a.m. game can be seen live on ESPN3.
