CHAPEL HILL – After a severe winter-weather storm pushed this weekend’s series back a day and to Chapel Hill, the No. 1 North Carolina baseball team prepares for a double header Saturday against a struggling Boston College team.

The Tar Heels are now 19-1, 5-1 and tied with Georgia Tech for first in the ACC Coastal Division. The Eagles are bringing up the rear in the Atlantic Division at 0-6 and a 3-15 overall mark.

Despite its consistently dominant performances, UNC is not the highest scoring team in the land. Carolina is third in the NCAA with 9.2 runs scored per game. The ACC’s Georgia Tech leads with way with ten per game while Georgia State is second at 9.7.

The Tar Heels’ defensive numbers continue to improve as they have the sixth-best team ERA at 1.92. That’s just 0.33 points off Oregon State which leads the way.

After their second longest break of the season, the Tar Heels hit the diamond again on Saturday. First pitch for game one is scheduled from 12:00 noon at Boshamer Stadium; the second game with start 40 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

Junior left-hander Kent Emanuel will take the mound for Carolina to open the series; sophomore right-hander Benton Moss is scheduled to start game two.
Due to the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, this weekend’s series will not be broadcast on WCHL. You can tune in to the game online; to listen, click here.
