CHAPEL HILL – The No. 1 North Carolina baseball team steps outside the ACC for two one-game mid-week contests beginning Tuesday night against Gardner-Webb.

UNC breezed past its first ACC opponent this past weekend with a sweep over Wake Forest on the road. In the series, the Tar Heels tallied 30 runs compared to the eight they gave up. That number is in line with UNC’s season average of ten runs to three per game.

Gardner-Webb is coming off a strong home stand including a sweep of Air Force Academy. The Runnin’ Bulldogs are struggling at the plate this year batting .266 as a team. However, their opponents have only been hitting .225.

The Tar Heels have obviously not seen any trouble at the plate. Carolina is batting .316 and limiting its opponents to a .196 batting average.

First pitch between UNC and Gardner-Webb is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Boshamer Stadium. You can hear the game in its entirety on WCHL beginning immediately after a shortened version of the Evening News with Aaron Keck.
