The East Chapel Hill Wildcats behind double digit scoring from Justin Tucker, Chris Garland, and Nick Decapite put on a second half barrage of points and defense to down the Northwood Chargers 56-34 in front of a home crowd Tuesday night.  The Wildcats utilizing their impressive height and athleticism allowed little to no inside scoring and dominated the defensive glass to break open an otherwise close game at halftime.

The Chargers lead at halftime behind the impressive shooting of #11 Deuce Powell who generated 15 points in the first half.  The Wildcat’s stingy defense gave only 1 more point to Powell’s total for the evening keeping the Charger guard at bay for the remainder of the second half.  The Wildcat’s added previously academically ineligible Chris Garland to the roster 4 games ago.  The addition of Garland has changed the entire complexion of the Wildcat’s making them a legitimate contender in the upcoming Big 8 – 3A Conference tournament.

The Wildcat’s host the Orange Panther’s tomorrow evening and will conclude their regular season on Friday when they host their cross town rivals the Chapel Hill Tigers.  The Chargers will play 4 games this week when they face Jordan Mathews at home tomorrow evening and then conclude their regular season hosting Hillside on Thursday and Northern on Saturday.

This game was the final regular season game broadcast for 97.9 The Hill.  Stay tuned for Big 8 – 3 A Conference Tournament Scheduling as well as the NCHSAA Basketball playoffs.
