HILLSBOROUGH– Another week of high school football is now in the books. And five of our six local teams were in action Friday night.

In our WCHL game of the week, there were no surprises. Powerhouse Orange High School continued its fine play, dismantling poor Cedar Ridge 59-7 to remain unbeaten.

Explosive Panther running back Patrick Pettiford began the onslaught with a touchdown run in the first quarter of proceedings.

And Orange quarterback Garrett Cloer, last week’s Grid Great of the Week, hooked up with Tay Jones for a 51-yard scoring strike a bit later in the contest.

Believe it or not, the Orange “Crush” actually fell behind by a touchdown to start this cross town rivalry, but Head Coach Pat Moser’s boys certainly turned it on from there, and this one was all over by halftime.

In the exclusive Chapelboro.com game of the week, the Carrboro Jaguars snapped a three-game losing streak in their conference win over Bartlett-Yancey. The Jaguars pulled out a tight one, 20-14.

In other area action, the Northwood Chargers prevailed in their tussle against Webb 33-21 to improve to 6-1 on the season. Meanwhile, the Tigers of Chapel Hill took down Northern Vance 28-24 in front of their home crowd.

East Chapel Hill, on the other hand, ran into an upstart Durham Riverside squad, falling victim by a 42-10 margin.
