An undefeated season and a conference title will be on the line under the lights Friday night.

In our WCHL high school football game of the week, the undefeated and defending 3-A state champion Southern Durham Spartans will take their explosive offense into Hillsborough to face a fellow unbeaten conference rival – the Orange Panthers.

For the second straight season, Orange head coach Pat Moser’s squad will face off against a familiar opponent in their regular season finale. Last season, the Panthers had their run at perfection spoiled by the Spartans on their way to the state title.

This season, the Panthers are led by two seniors in quarterback Garrett Cloer and running back Tay Jones. On the other side of the field, the stingy Orange defense will have its hands full against senior signal caller Kendall Hinton, who’s committed to play for Wake Forest next year.

The undefeated showdown will be broadcast on 97.9 FM, WCHL starting at 6:30 p.m. with pregame coverage from Hillsborough. Jeff Hamlin and Chris Casey will have the call.

But it all begins Friday night with ‘The Grid with Matt & Matt’, WCHL’s exclusive high school football pregame show hosted by Matt Oakes and Matt Paul.

At 6 p.m., the stage will be set with interviews from all the area head coaches, analysis and predictions from the night’s biggest games, the selection of The Grid Great of the Week, as well as the unveiling of the WCHL/Chapelboro.com Super Six rankings.
