On the road again, the Chapel Hill High football team just can’t wait to get on the road again.

The 11-3 Tigers will load up their team buses again Friday and travel to No. 7 seed Northern Guilford for a state 3AA semifinal playoff game.

Like the refrain from the classic country-western song, the No. 12 seeded Tigers have absolutely thrived on the road in this 3AA playoff campaign.

Chapel Hill has already toppled West Brunswick, Terry Sanford and Southern Durham away from home, though the Nighthawks should offer the Tigers their toughest challenge yet.

If Northern Guilford wins, it will have pulled off the impressive feat of defeating our area’s top three programs, including Northwood and Orange, this season.

The winner will advance to play the victor in the other semis matchup, Weddington vs. Cuthbertson, the following Saturday for the state 3AA title at N.C. State’s Carter-Finley Stadium.

‘The Grid with Matt & Matt’ will get the ball rolling at 6:30 p.m., followed by pre-game coverage at 7 p.m. The Tigers and Nighthawks are set to kick off at 7:30 p.m.
