Three local high school teams are set to continue play in the state basketball playoffs tonight.

 

The East Chapel Hill Wildcats boys’ basketball team will play at home tonight against Jack Britt in the 2nd round of the 4-A state playoffs. The Wildcats earned its way to the second round by beating J.H. Rose 60-57 in Greenville. Carter Collins led the Wildcats with 21 points.

 

Meanwhile, in the 3-A state playoffs, Orange travels to Havelock tonight at 7:30. On Sunday, the Panthers easily disposed of South Johnston 71-34 in Hillsborough. Jawan Chambers and Chandler Compton each scored 18 to lead the Panthers.

 

In the 3-A girls basketball tournament, the Chapel Hill Tigers play at home against Wilson Hunt tonight at 6 o’clock. The Tigers, who captured the 3-A state championship last year, defeated Northeast Guilford 81-55 on Saturday. Chapel Hill is 20-2 on the season.
