ATLANTA, GA-The number one Tar Heel baseball team fell to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 5-4, on a walk off homer in the first of a three game series on Friday night in Atlanta.

Both teams went scoreless in the first inning and just when it looked like UNC wasn’t going to fare any better in the second, Parks Jordan unleashed his first career home run to put the Tar Heels on top of the Yellow Jackets.

Senior first baseman Cody Stubbs helped tack on another one for the Heels in the top of the third with an RBI to send Chaz Frank home and give UNC a three run advantage, but that lead didn’t last long. With two RBI triples and a two-run homer in the bottom of the third, Georgia Tech pulled out in front of Carolina, with the score four to three.

But UNC’s Colin Moran answered in the fifth inning with a home run to tie the game at four runs apiece.

Unfortunately for the Tar Heels, the well would then run dry while Georgia Tech seized the opportunity in the bottom of the ninth to end the game.

With the win, Georgia Tech improves to 31-19, 13-12 in the conference, while UNC slips to 44-5 overall, 19-4 in the ACC.

The Tar Heels will try to even the series when two teams face off again on Saturday at 6 pm for game two in Atlanta.
