GREENSBORO – The North Carolina football team will play in part one of a double-header for the Thursday night of opening weekend of the 2013 football season at South Carolina.

ESPN announced Tuesday that the August 29th contest will kick off at 6:00 p.m. at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. That marks the first of two Thursday night games for Carolina this season. The Tar Heels will host a mid-week game against Miami on October 17—also on ESPN. That game will be just the second time in school history that UNC has hosted a Thursday night game.

Ole Miss and Vanderbilt will kick off in the night cap at 9:15 p.m. from Tennessee.

This announcement comes just a day before spring practice kicks off for North Carolina. Larry Fedora and the Tar Heels hit the gridiron Wednesday at 3:50 p.m. on the Navy Practice Field.
