The Tar Heels baseball team enjoyed an enormous amount of success during the 2017 season, finishing 49-14 overall, earning a No. 2 overall seed and hosting a regional site in Chapel Hill.

Unfortunately, the season ended with heartbreak as Carolina was defeated by unranked Davidson on its home field. For a team that was projected to make a serious run in the College Baseball World Series, it was a disappointing end to not get out of the regional stage of the tournament.

Heading into the 2018 season, the Tar Heels still have high expectations.

Perfect Game ranked North Carolina seventh overall in their Preseason-Top 25 and picked the Heels to repeat atop the ACC Atlantic. In addition, three members of the squad, designated hitter Ashton McGee, starting pitcher Gianluca Dalatri and closer Josh Hiatt, were named to the preseason All-ACC team,
