The Oaks is an established neighborhood of executive homes on large lots within minutes of downtown Chapel Hill and with easy access to I-40 and the Research Triangle Park. Originally developed in the 1970s, with more recent sections developed in the 1990s, The Oaks offers a variety of Chapel Hill real estate.

Luxury homes built in a number of architectural styles, and lots that range in acreage, give home buyers many choices. Sidewalks exist throughout most of the neighborhood, and along with speed-bump roads this community safe and inviting for families. The wide streets are perfect for walking, jogging, biking or playing with your children or pets.

The Oaks features homes in two different cities and counties, with part of the neighborhood in Chapel Hill and the other in Durham. Located on the Durham County side are The Villas, which are smaller mostly one level houses on lots created for the retirement home market. The Oaks Condominiums are situated at the front of the neighborhood and offer another excellent option, with all houses in the neighborhood ranging from $400,000 to 2 million and up.

The Oaks gives residents a quiet, comfortable living with a convenient locale. Situated directly off Route 54, few neighborhoods provide the peace of large wooded lots with quick and easy access to UNC Chapel Hill, Duke University, and Research Triangle Park. A Chapel Hill Public Transit stop located directly outside the neighborhood adds further convenience.

The Oaks surrounds The Chapel Hill Country Club, with many homes backing right up to the golf course. Originally chartered in 1922, the Country Club is the only private golf course and country club in Chapel Hill. The course was originally designed by architect Gene Hamm and was re-designed by architect John LaFoy, who has worked on Augusta National and other major courses. It is not a requirement to be a member of the club to live in the neighborhood, but the club offers many amenities for those who wish to join.

If you are a true golf enthusiast and one course isn’t enough, the UNC Finley Golf Course is across from The Oaks on Route 54. Also located along Route 54, mere minutes from The Oaks, are Glenn Lennox and Wood Square Shopping Centers where residents can dine at delicious Chapel Hill restaurants or shop at a variety of stores.

Most of the homes are located in the Chapel Hill School District, with a smaller section located in Durham County with Durham County Schools. Both areas have a Chapel Hill address, so it’s important to specify what county you’ll be living in if the school system is important to you.
