Residents of Lake Hogan Farms enjoy easy access to the Triangle and all its amenities while maintaining an authentic sense of country living – perhaps at least partly because the community, located off of Homestead Road, northwest of Chapel Hill, is a former dairy farm.
Lake Hogan Farms is a diverse family-oriented neighborhood. Families are attracted to the area because it is beautiful, quiet, there are nice-size lots, there are many kids of all ages and there are wonderful neighborhood facilities.
The 300-acre community offers a range of housing options: patio homes on small, manageable lots; single family homes ranging from the $300,000s to over $800,000; and upscale townhomes. There are 95 acres of dedicated green space, and neighborhood greenway trails connect to trail systems in Chapel Hill in Carrboro.
“We love living in Lake Hogan Farms. Aside from being beautiful and having lots of neighborhood amenities, we were surprised to discover how close-in to town we are via the beautiful biking and walking trails that wind through our neighborhood and surrounding communities,” say residents Allison Wood and David Wiener. “The neighborhood elementary school is wonderful, and the townhomes are the best deal per square foot in Chapel Hill.”
The neighborhood features a 12-acre fishing lake, a pool, a playground, a basketball court and tennis courts, and a clubhouse that Bakst describes as “the best clubhouse in town.” Access to all of these amenities is included with the neighborhood dues of $65 per month.
Having a large neighborhood pool promotes a sense of community because it is really used. The layout of the neighborhood also fosters a sense of community because the kids can freely and safely interact with one another. To make things even better, throughout the year, the neighborhood has organized social events at the clubhouse, including music on the lawn and events for couples and children.
Jessica and Ari Lelantal, who moved into the community six years ago, say they not only love their home but “have fallen in love with the neighborhood too.”
“The mix of single homes and townhomes, the trees and the lake, the tennis and basketball courts, the pool and the clubhouse, the walking trails and easy access to Interstate 40 and Highway 54 together with great schools and wonderful neighbors makes all of us feel comfortable and blessed,” they say.
“We’re so happy we landed here in Lake Hogan Farms!”
Resident Debbie Horowitz echoes those sentiments. “We have been living here for nine years now and we love this community. We feel connected to our neighbors, we have enjoyed the use of the pool, tennis courts and walking trails, but above all, this has been the best place to raise our kids,” she says.
They have so many friends right here in the neighborhood that it is a social heaven. Even as high schoolers, they continue to meet up with friends to hang out. I appreciate that they are safe and nearby and use our house as a home base, so I can continue to keep an eye on them. As I see neighbors moving and new families moving in, I see the same connections developing with new neighbors.
