The North Carolina High School Athletic Association 3-A women’s soccer state championship was played by the Chapel Hill Tigers and the Weddington Warriors at Dail Soccer Field on a beautiful day, especially for fans of the CHHS side. A surprising early goal from the Warriors made the eventual 2-1 victory for Chapel Hill High that much sweeter, and long-time coach Ron Benson was able to end his career on a high note. This victory was the only time Chapel Hill has played in the NCHSAA women’s soccer finals, and CHHS finished the season with an impressive 23-1 record.
