Authorities Investigating 1-Year-Old Missing Person Case as Homicide

Brice Holliman disappeared on April 9, 2015. And with the one-year anniversary coming up on Saturday, local law enforcement agencies are still working to find out exactly what happened. Orange County Law Enforcement Investigating Efland Death

This story was updated with additional information Tuesday morning. Members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a death in Efland, authorities confirmed Monday afternoon. Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood says deputies received a call at 2:38 Monday afternoon of shots being fired near the Efland – Cheeks Community Center. Legislature Passes New Gun Bill

The General Assembly passed a new firearms bill Monday night. Legislators say House Bill 562 has come a long way since the House’s earlier controversial versions. In addition to full Republican support, the gun bill got favorable votes from seven Senate Democrats when it passed on Monday night. Phone Scams Target County Residents

A flurry of phone scams has targeted Orange County residents in the last several months, according to Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood. Blackwood says the most recent victim lost more than $2000. “She received a call claiming that she had missed her jury notice and that she needed to pay a certain amount of money to avoid arrest,” Blackwood says. “They told her that they could make the process very simple for her if she just gave them her credit card and routing information.
