****UPDATE: The National Weather Service upgraded the advisory covering Orange County to a Winter Storm Warning from 11 p.m. Tuesday until 4 p.m. Wednesday. Forecasters are now projecting three to four inches of snow in central North Carolina.****

Another bout of winter weather is approaching.

With growing confidence that central North Carolina will be affected by the latest approaching winter storm, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Raleigh for Orange County and the surrounding area.

The advisory is in effect from 11 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, through 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 17.

The NWS is saying snow is “likely, mainly before 1 pm.” The service puts the chance of precipitation at 60 percent with snow accumulation of one to three inches possible.

Officials with the Town of Chapel Hill said Monday that crews were beginning preparations ahead of any impact from the storm.
