****8 AM UPDATE: Power crews are making progress to restore power in Orange County. As of 8 a.m., outages are estimated at between 300-350 Duke Energy customers.****

****5 AM UPDATE: While some outages were restored overnight, more than 1,000 Orange County residents are still without power as of 5 a.m. Thursday.****

More than 3,000 Orange County residents are without power during the latest instance of winter weather on Wednesday.

Snowfall totals reached near 10 inches in some portions of Orange County. Most of the Orange County power outages were focused on Fordham Boulevard in Chapel Hill between Raleigh and Sage roads.

Power outages were reported throughout the afternoon, beginning around 12:30 p.m. As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, there were no estimates for when power would be restored.

Dozens of crashes were reported across Orange County, but emergency officials did not report any injuries.

Chapel Hill Fire crews did extinguish a structure fire on Wednesday. There is no known cause of the fire at this time.

The winter weather has caused many delays and closings continuing into Thursday, January 18.
