***UPDATE: The outage map from Duke Energy showed nearly all of the outages had been restored as on Monday night.***

Orange County is beginning to see power outages being reported as a band of severe weather is approaching.

The Chapel Hill Public Library was first to report a power outage via Twitter.

The library followed up that by responding to WCHL that the entire Town network was down.

Residents also began reporting to WCHL that traffic lights were out at the intersection of Franklin and Boundary Streets.

An accident at Old 86 and New Hope Church Road was called into the WCHL newsroom. The caller said law enforcement was on the scene and having to direct traffic.

Power was also reportedly out at Whole Foods in Village Plaza.

The Duke Energy Outage Map is reporting that more than 1,700 residents were impacted at the intersection of Franklin Street and Estes Drive.
