UNC settled the lawsuit with learning specialist Mary Willingham for $335,000, WCHL has confirmed.
The figure was first reported by the Raleigh News & Observer.
The lawsuit settlement was reached in late February.
Rick White, UNC Associate Vice Chancellor for Communications and Public Affairs, provided the following statement upon reaching the settlement:
“The University’s settlement with Mrs. Willingham resolves all of the outstanding legal issues in the case. We appreciate the efforts of the mediator to help us achieve a successful and timely conclusion to the mediation. We believe the settlement is in the best interest of the University and allows us to move forward and fully focus on other important issues.
“The settlement is pending final action to dismiss the case by Judge Boyle.”
