CHATHAM COUNTY – UNC Chancellor Carol Folt was cited for driving more than 20 miles per hour over the speed limit on U.S. Highway 64 in Pittsboro on Jan. 1.
Folt was traveling 76 mph in a 55 mph hour speed zone near the Haw River when she was pulled over by Officer P.J. Carroll at 3:54 p.m., Capt. Doug Stuart of the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office said.
Stuart noted that the speed drops from 65 mph to 55 mph in that area.
Folt will appear in court on Feb. 6.
