WASHINGTON, D.C. – The First Amendment to the Constitution gives us the right to petition our government and some are using that right to ask the White House to investigate UNC.

In a petition posted to the official “We the People” petition site this past Tuesday, the White House is asked to look into UNC because of continuing allegations of fraud related to the athletic department while the University has received federal research funding.

The petition’s creator is listed anonymously, but its location is listed as Las Vegas, Nevada.

The petition needs 100,000 online signatures to warrant an official response from the White House. As of midday Friday, it has 225 signatures and has until August 22 to make up the remaining difference.

Other petitions that have more signatures include a petition asking President Barack Obama to decriminalize marijuana and a petition asking the president to order the release of a dog that was taken into San Francisco police custody after it bit a police horse.
