It has been a little more than a week since freshman guard Jalek Felton was suspended by UNC but few details have emerged over that stretch as the Tar Heels are preparing to take on Duke in Chapel Hill on Thursday.

โ€œYou know everything I know,โ€ head coach Roy Williams said at a Tuesday press conference. Williams said the team was informed Felton was being suspended by the university during practice last Monday, January 29.

โ€œWe took him off the practice court during our stretching,โ€ Williams said, โ€œand he had a conversation over the phone with someone. And thatโ€™s when we were informed.โ€

Felton did not make the trip to Clemson in a game that UNC lost last Tuesday and missed Carolinaโ€™s victory over Pittsburgh in Chapel Hill over the weekend.

There has been no reason given for Feltonโ€™s suspension as the university has cited federal privacy laws as why it canโ€™t provide further information. But Durham-based attorney Kerry Sutton has confirmed that she is representing Felton.

Sutton represented UNC linebacker Allen Artis when he was accused of sexual assault by another student on the UNC campus. Artis was eventuallyย cleared by the university and misdemeanor charges were dropped. Sutton was quick to caution against assuming the nature of Feltonโ€™s case by looking at her past work.

Sutton tweeted on Wednesday that the situation is โ€œlooking goodโ€ while the process is currently in the gathering information phase. She added โ€œworry notโ€ UNC basketball fans.

Sutton said last week that Felton โ€œis an extraordinary young man & an exemplary student athleteโ€ at UNC. She added, โ€œWeโ€™ll get him back in class & on the court where he belongs as soon as we can.โ€

Sutton did not respond to a request for further comment after Wednesdayโ€™s tweet. Unless there is a change before tipoff, Felton will miss Carolinaโ€™s game against the Blue Devils Thursday night.

Felton has been serving as the backup to senior Joel Berry while Seventh Woods has been sidelined with an injury. Williams said at Tuesdayโ€™s press conference that Woods had no limits placed on him heading into that afternoonโ€™s practice and if there were no complications it seems as though Woods will be back for the Tar Heels Thursday night.

Tipoff for UNC and Duke is scheduled for 8 p.m.
