CHAPEL HILL – UNC announced Wednesday that Steve Case, co-founder of America Online, will give the spring Commencement address on May 12, at 9:30 a.m. in Kenan Stadium.
Chancellor Holden Thorp will preside over the ceremony, which 30,000 people are expected to attend.
Case has worked with Chancellor Thorp before— in the first national forum of the National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NACIE) held at the Kenan-Flagler Business School. Case co-chairs the council.
Case co-founded AOL in 1985; he is also chair of the Case Foundation and chairman and CEO of Revolution—an investment firm that has backed more than two dozen companies, including LivingSocial.

Case is also set to receive an honorary doctor of laws degree.
