Roads have reopened after a major wreck involving a tractor trailer shut down one lane of Interstate 85 North and all lanes of U.S. Highway 70 east of Hillsborough in Orange County.

The truck lost control near an overpass shortly before 9 a.m. on Friday.

According to the State Highway Patrol, the truck’s breaks locked up causing the vehicle swerve to the left, striking the guardrail on I-85 at the US 70 overpass.

The truck rolled over the guardrail and down the embankment, striking the bridge along the way. The driver, Marco Myrick, was pinned inside the cab. He was transported to Duke Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He’s been charged with failure to maintain lane control.

A temporary guard rail has been put in place until crews can fully repair the bridge. All lanes were reopened by noon.
