A news release was issued on Friday by the Chapel Hill municipal government regarding road work that may impede traffic in the center of town for up to four days.

According to the release, motorists heading toward Carrboro on West Franklin Street between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM will encounter a lane closure at Church Street.

The release states that a contractor will be performing traffic signal work at the intersection during that time, with labor expected to last from Monday, February 20 to Thursday, February 23.

Additional work on West Franklin Street is expected this spring as part of an area beautification plan that commenced last year with the removal of certain trees that were found to be in poor health.
