Construction work extending the Bolin Creek Trail is beginning on Monday and will include the closure of Pritchard Avenue Extension for installation of a pedestrian tunnel.
The trail project has been underway in phases since June 2015 with the goal of providing residents with a continuous paved trail from the Chapel Hill Community Center to the Northside neighborhood near downtown, according to town officials.
The construction is causing Chapel Hill Transit to detour several routes along Longview Drive to Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard.
The detour will be in place until further notice.
The closure of Pritchard Avenue Extension is scheduled to last about three months, according to the town, weather permitting.
