UPDATE: The earlier accident that was blocking I-85 south near Mile Marker 163 has been moved to the shoulder. All lanes are open.
A vehicle accident has closed I-85 south near Mile Marker 163 between Efland and Hillsborough on Monday, transportation officials confirmed.

The state Department of Transportation tweeted that the road was closed just after noon on Monday near the I-85/I-40 merger.
DOT cameras showed an overturned vehicle blocking all travel lanes. It appears traffic is being allowed to pass through on the shoulder.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area if possible. There is no timeline for when the road will be cleared.
