The work being done on a portion of Ephesus Church Road is set to end Friday, reopening the road for traffic three weeks ahead of schedule.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation closed Ephesus Church between Longleaf Drive and Tinkerbell Road last month to replace a pipe culvert and minimize flooding during rain.

A detour was established using Pope Road, Old Chapel Hill Road, Mount Moriah Road and Fordham Boulevard.

The town also established a pedestrian detour. Pedestrians will have to continue to use the detour until December 7, pending weather, according to the NCDOT.

Lane closures will take place until the scheduled completion of the project on December 22. Through traffic will be maintained.
